Choosing ED Medications
There are currently four ED oral medications available in the UK: Viagra, Cialis, Levitra and Cialis once a day.
Cialis once a day is a treatment which has a daily dosing regime, and the effects of the medication are continuous provided that the correct dose is taken each day. About Erectile Dysfunction
Impotence is when a man is unable to achieve or maintain an erection long enough or firm enough for satisfactory sexual activity. The medical term for this is erectile dysfunction.
- Key differences and similarities
-
The main difference between the medications is the time for which they are effective. Viagra and Levitra have a similar duration lasting about 4 hours. Cialis has a much longer action which can last up to 36 hours. Whilst Viagra and Levitra allow a reasonable window of effectiveness, many couples enjoy the greater flexibility and spontaneity offered by Cialis.
Another key difference between the treatments is their potential side effects. It is important to know that not everyone experiences side effects and that these wear off with the effects of the treatment. Typical side effects include indigestion, headaches and facial flushing. Very rarely do serious side effects occur. If you are at all concerned about your reaction to a prescribed medication ask your doctor for further information.
All of the above mentioned ED medications should be prescribed with caution where the patient suffers from blood pressure and heart related problems. In some high risk cases of heart attack or stroke, where medications are contraindicated or where the patient suffers from degenerative retinal disorders or peyronies disease, prescribing ED treatments is not recommended.
- Can the doctor recommend treatments?
-
If the doctor has cleared you for more than one type of erectile dyfunction medication there is no reason why you cannot try all of these before deciding which best suits your personal needs. Some patients use different treatments at different times, for example prefering to use Cialis at the weekend and Viagra or Levitra during the working week. It is important to remember that these drugs do not guarantee an automatic response, but rather they aid a natural process. You may find by trying different Ed medications that one treatment works very well whilst another may have no effect at all.
- Which dose should I take?
-
Pharma.MyonlineDoctor believes in offering patients choice, so unless the doctor specifically advises you to stick to a particular dose, you will be able to choose the dosage of your treatments when you order. The doctor will check your order to confirm whether the dose is appriopriate.
As a rule of thumb: start on the lowest dose available and only increase this if you find the effects of the medications are a little weak. Similarly if you are on a higher dose, but find the side effects are strong try lowering the dose to see if that helps.
